El bueno de Ted sigue situando su ojo clínico en un punto entre el boot-boy rock del “Boys are back in town” y los Jam del All Mod Cons. The Brutalist Bricks esta lleno de himnos callejeros de vieja/nueva ola para chicos con botas y cerebros bien amueblados. Como “Even heroes have to die”, que es una especie de marsellesa mod con aires “Complete control” para empezar cargas de scooters contra el Parlamento. O “The stick”, que agarra el metrónomo de los Damned y le atiza una muralla china de speed. O “Ativan eyes”, que emerge hacia el punto más mainstream de la radiofórmula filo-punk de The Pretenders. Y qué pasa con ese pro-beodo “Bottled in Cork”, que en el estribillo se desliza sin esfuerzo hacia el chasqueo de dedos de un Van Morrison en su etapa crucial. Ted Leo es aún pop punk en todas las restantes, sí, pero más, ya ven; más listo, más leído, más escuchado y más simpático. The Brutalist Bricks se lo demostrará de manera práctica, si es que no me creen.
